Global Overlap

Privacy policy

Your cities stay on your device.

Global Overlap has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. This page says exactly what the app keeps, what it sends, and to whom. Last updated 26 September 2026.

What the app stores

The cities and people you add, the working hours you set for them, and your view preferences are saved on your own device. On iPhone, iPad and Mac they live inside the app's own storage. In the web version they live in your browser. We cannot see any of it, and there is nothing to sync because there is no server behind the app.

What the app sends

One thing. When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to the geocoding service run by Open-Meteo so it can return matching places and their time zones. The request contains only the search text. It carries no account, no device identifier and no other data from the app. Open-Meteo publishes its own terms at open-meteo.com/en/terms.

Everything else happens on your device. Working out the overlap, drawing the timeline and building the meeting invite need no network at all.

Links that leave the app

When you send a chosen time to Google Calendar, Outlook, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, the app opens that service in your browser with the meeting details in the link. From that point you are dealing with that provider under its own privacy policy. The same goes for the optional donation button, which opens a Stripe page in your browser. The app never sees what you do there.

The web version only

The web version at app.overlap.usefulisms.com can send a report to us when it hits an unexpected error. The report contains the error message, where in the code it happened, the page address and the browser's name. It contains none of your cities or settings and no cookie or identifier. The iPhone, iPad and Mac apps from the App Store do not send error reports.

What we never do

Children

The app is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, whatever their age.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything it stored. In the web version, clearing site data for app.overlap.usefulisms.com in your browser does the same.

Changes

If the app ever starts sending something new, this page changes first and the date at the top moves.
